Gabi Hamm. Two

In the Print Room, the Museum Franz Gertsch will be exhibiting a concentrated selection of small-format oil paintings by Gabi Hamm dating from the last 15 years. Ceramics produced by the German artist over the past two years will also be on show for the first time in Switzerland.

The show in the Museum Franz Gertsch involves a comprehensive exhibition in a concentrated format. It encompasses a meticulous selection of the artist’s small-format oil paintings made on diverse supports that provide profound insights into Gabi Hamm’s artistic production. Gabi Hamm has likewise approached ceramics in a playful fashion in recent years, also looking at historical forms and realizing her own often defamiliarized and rethought works on the potter’s wheel. She will be going public for the first time with this new facet of her artistic activities in 2015 and the Museum Franz Gertsch is pleased to be able to unite these two sides of Gabi Hamm’s work in one space.

Gabi Hamm (born 1956) studied at the Staatliche Akademien der Bildenden Künste in Stuttgart and Frankfurt am Main (Städelschule). She has received numerous prizes and grants and regularly exhibits her work at home and abroad. The artist lives and works in Frankfurt am Main.

The exhibition was curated by Anna Wesle in collaboration with the artist.
